Continuing Education Mission Statement
Clinical Tools, Inc. combines medicine, science, and technology to provide state-of-the-art online training and education.
The CME mission statement for Clinical Tools, Inc. consists of 5 components:
[Purpose] We strive to enhance the knowledge, skills, and confidence of health providers, and trainees so they can improve individual health. Our standard is to create high-quality, Internet-based continuing education that is effective, relevant, and incorporates the most up-to-date research and expert opinion.
[Content areas] Our primary area of focus is substance abuse/mental health and related issues. Course content is determined by analysis of gaps in performance, knowledge and competence, including national guidelines, best practices reports, user surveys, literature review, and consultations with experts. Content for physicians focuses on topics that are of interest and importance to physicians in primary care.
[Target audience] Our target audience is primary care providers and trainees. We have, however, focused CE courses to primary care physicians and medical students. Mental health providers are a secondary audience.
[Types of activities] The company identifies content areas that are under-represented in current CE curricula, are skills-oriented, and would benefit from Internet delivery, including innovative uses of emerging technology.
We assist providers by enhancing the dissemination of advances in the practice of medicine to healthcare professionals and communication. Successful curricula are achieved by identifying gaps in the knowledge, competence, and performance of our target audiences in order to improve skill, increase use of best practices and improve patient outcomes. The educational curricula are developed and reviewed through the in-house instructional design process.
[Expected results] The impact of the activities are evaluated using both qualitative and quantitative methods to assure quality and to measure competence, skills, and behaviors essential to providing quality patient care and improving outcomes.
